Day Two

Breakfast at 7:00am had us all up early. A wide assortment of cereals to start our day - (Thanks to all the Moms!) - Room temperature goat's milk was a new experience for some of us, but all are doing well so far with the minor change in diet. The fresh juice is awesome and I will be bringing home several bags of the Dominican coffee- it as amazing!

After breakfast and a prayer, teams were assigned their projects for the day. Some organized school supplies and prepared for the afternoon Bible School, while others went to the tool shed to check out picks, shovels, wheelbarrows for busting up an old concrete pad, helping in the laying of a cinder block wall, and adding to/repairing fencing. Another team spent the day repairing and rebuilding desks. All the WCCS team went at their respective tasks with an energy I wish I had.. Their cheerfullness and willingness to imteract with the locals is something all you parents can be very proud of.

Each day I see more and more of the uniqueness of the Domincan people - teenagers jumping in and working alongside our kids, young children constantly sharing whtever they have with another. For a group of people who sometimes don't know where their next meal may come from, they are as unselfish and nuturing to one another as I've ever seen. They show true gratitude to their families, friends, and guests.

Lumch is the big meal of the day here and our kids dug into rice, cabbage, beets, a little goat meat, and fried plantains (they taste more like potatoes than bananas)  After lunch is always siesta time where everyone gathers in the shade to relax in the heat of the day...and yes, it is very hot here. Nhot to worry Moms, we conxtantly remind the kids to drimk lots of water. Work projects resumed at 2:00, and the Bible School (run completely  by our kids!) kicked off at 3:00 with about 70 kids.

A late rain shower is cooling things off a little as we wind down with the work, clean up and gather for supper. Keep praying for safety and for continued blessings on our time here.

Adios'!
